golfing and weight training?

Newbie
I was wondering how many of you combine hobbies like golf or whatever with weight training too. I am retired at 55 and I pay thousands already for my country club which includes weekend tee times so might as well use it, so i golf atleast 3 times a week. now i want to get back into weight training, is that too much on my body if i also weight train the same day?
 
weight training does not mix well with golf.. it most certainly has a huge effect on your swing and many golfers have really messed up their game by trying to mix these together... im not saying to not workout by any means, but heavy sorts of weight training will not do you any favors with your golf game... it may "seem" that you would drive the ball farther etc... not so much... look at some of the heavy hitters in golf and how small they are... its all about shifting weight, form, etc... ive been around this a ton and seen it since ive been around golf so much...
 
i would say if golf is a big part of your life then you should incorporate weight training to help your golf game. i am not a golfer but i'm sure the pros do use resistance training, just not on golf day obviously. talk to a golf trainer and see what he recommends

If you do golf, do light weight training. Like lower weight longer training.
